Titleist, the #1 ball at the Presidents Cup.At the 2005 Presidents Cup, the majority of the players tee up the golf ball they trust most when it comes to representing their country. Titleist.
Fairhaven, MA (September 22, 2005) - When the much-anticipated Presidents Cup commences at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Virginia today, the majority of the players will tee up the golf ball they trust most when it comes to representing their country. Titleist.
Of the combined 24 players that make up the United States and International team rosters for this biennial contest, 13 of them rely upon the superior quality and performance of the Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x golf balls, more than three times the nearest competitor with four.
Half of the United States squad trusts Titleist, including Chris DiMarco (Pro V1), Fred Funk (Pro V1), Titleist brand ambassador Davis Love III (Pro V1x), Kenny Perry (Pro V1x), David Toms (Pro V1) and Scott Verplank (Pro V1).
Among the seven Titleist golf ball loyalists on the International team are Angel Cabrera (Pro V1x), Retief Goosen (Pro V1x), Mark Hensby (Pro V1), Nick O'Hern (Pro V1), Titleist brand ambassador Adam Scott (Pro V1x), Vijay Singh (Pro V1x) and Mike Weir (Pro V1x).
The event ended in a 17-17 tie in South Africa in 2003, leaving the United States and International teams with unfinished business. Thursday afternoon features six Foursomes, or alternate shot, matches that will be followed by six Four-ball tilts on Friday. Saturday's double session includes five Foursomes in the morning and six Four-ball contests that afternoon before the marquee Singles finale on Sunday.
A total of 17,773 players across the worldwide professional tours have teed up a Titleist in 2005, compared to 2,838 for the nearest competitor. And just as the Presidents Cup participants represent the best in golf, its only fitting that the overwhelming majority choose Titleist for their success.
Check back each day during the Presidents Cup for video interviews from the event.
