Getting ready to buy a used Vokey wedge and the face is a bit worn with a golf ball sized rust spot in the sweet spot. If I take a #000 extra fine steel wool will that remove the rust enough to help both looks and performance? Can't imagine what this guy was hitting with this club

    Thanks

I read that you should never take an abrasive surface to a wedge. Also, told to get rid off rust on the face of the wedge just hit a few balls with the wedge and it will wear right off. The vokey wedges are designed to rust that way so if the grooves are still good on the face I would get the wedge and put it right in the bag and play to get the rust off.

IMHO if you are concerned about the rust spot don't purchase the wedges and if you look around you can definitely find used Vokey's reasonably priced without a rust spot on the face.

If the impact spot is that worn on the clubface it is probably due to a lot of use. There is a reason that the seller is parting with these wedges...they are probably worn to wear the spin on the ball has changed.

I would just get new wedges. You will be much happier!
