Now that the snow has managed to melt away in most parts of Canada, our team of Titleist Fitting Experts are excited for a busy season of golf club fitting.

Do you have a Titleist Golf Club fitting story to share? What did you learn during the fitting and what types of results have you seen?

I was recently fitted at our Titleist National Fitting Centre (Open May 1) for the new Vokey SM6 wedges.  The Fitter, Chris Welton suggested a new loft and bounce composition (48.08 54.14 60.12) that allowed me to be more versatile around the greens.  I've only played 1 round so far this season, but I'm already loving the switch.

I look forward to hearing your stories.

    Cheers,

I recall a few years back when the 915 D2 & D3 drivers came out and I went for a fitting with Chris Welton at the Eagles Nest National Fitting Center. I was extremely pleased with the level of professionalism throughout the fitting process. After the fitting I got an email with all my stats from the Trackman. I have shared those print-outs with a lot of guys at my club to show them the level of detail involved in setting up a proper club fitting. Chris went through a number of shaft options as well as driver heads and settings before we found exactly the combination that gave me the best dispersion and distance combination. I was so impressed I went back the following year to get fitted for a fairway wood, and now I have a fitting scheduled for May 3 for wedges and a hybrid. I recall last fall at the product launch I was chatting with Chris and told him I was interested in trying out the new 816 H1. He immediately recalled off the top of his head what shafts I had in my driver and in my fairway wood and suggested a specific shaft for me to try in my hybrid. I was taken aback at his memory particularly given the fact that I could not remember myself !!!!

Personally, I would never go out again and purchase another club without having a fitting first now that I have gone through the experience and seen the results. I look at it this way... If I am bout to spend $500 to $1,200 for some clubs, why would I not spend an additional $100 or so to make sure I am getting something that is going to work ?
Looking forward to next week Chris :)

  3. Nice to hear Mitch. I'm going for a wedge fitting on May 14 and I'm really looking forward to it. I'll update again afterwards.

My son and I were at St. Andrews Valley today for Titleist trial day. The fitter was very professional. I was fitted for AP1 and AP2 irons and found out I needed a completely different lie and shaft (2 degrees upright and graphite shaft) than what I had in my previous irons. My son also was fitted for the right shaft for him in a driver and AP2 irons. It completely changed his ball flight from a ballooning fade to a penetrating draw. We are both extremely pleased and ordered our new clubs on the spot.
Thanks again for a great experience .

Just got home from my fitting at Eagles Nest with Chris Welton.
We started with a fitting for an 816 H1. It did not take long for Chris to get me zeroed in to the correct shaft and loft combination to get the distance I was looking for. Then we went over my wedge needs and off we went to the putting/chipping green. Chris got me into a pair of wedges pretty quickly for chipping off the grass. Then we hopped into the bunker. The lip on this bunker reminded me of Scotland. I give credit to Chris that he continued to speak positively about the fact that I have good technique, but need to trust the club to do the work. All I can say is that when I put the right swing on the club and remembered to hit before the ball, everything worked great. Unfortunately I am still going to have to break the habit of hitting the back of the ball. Fortunately Chris figured out the correct wedge for me while there was still some sand left in the bunker and I hadn't injured anyone in the vicinity with some of my skulled shots :)
Off we went back to the range area and Chris measured some wedge shots with the trackman as I hit to 100 yds, 80 yds, and 60 yds with the different wedges. Just watching the balls land and spin back was nice. I knew if I got the right tools I could do a better job.
    Awesome experience. Highly recommended.
When I got home an email from Chris was already in my inbox with specific details on my patterns and club design specs. I have already forwarded the info to my club pro to order the four clubs for me.
Thank you Chris for your great work and your patience.

  6. Thanks Darius. I go for my wedge fitting next weekend so it was nice to read what you did in yours. As an aside....you know I'll do well out of the bunkers. You got to watch me find my way out of quite a few last fall. ;)

Wendy... I do hope you got your fitting in during the lulls in the weather on Saturday. I was playing at Bradford Highlands and we had a light rain for most of the day. Then the storm front blew through !!! The winds were so high and the rain had hail in it. In a matter of five minutes or less, the temperature dropped at least 8 degrees C. Hopefully you finished your fitting before that hit :)
  8. Well we ended up pushing my fitting ahead by a week because of the weather. It was worth it though. What an amazing experience. Chris is first class and was very patient and took time to explain everything. My wedge fitting was awesome and I am really looking forward to getting my new sticks. I'll be going in this weekend to put in the order. Thank you Chris....I really enjoyed the fitting.

PS.....hey Darius....wait until you see my new sand wedge. :)

I went to the Regional Fitting Center in Calgary at Country Hills Golf Course. Dealt with Brett Burgeson with my 716 AP1 irons and was very impressed so a couple months later went back and worked with Craig Dales (at Brett's recommendation) on a 915 D2 and a Vokey Wedge.
I would highly recommend dealing with either of these 2 gentlemen and will always be fitted moving forwards
