So I have a set of the 1st gen AP2s with Nippon 750GH shafts that I've been playing since 2009. I wanted to meet a specific set of performance metrics before I even debated looking at new irons, which I happened to meet this summer. I love the look and performance of my current set, and would more than likely stay in the AP2 family unless the T-MBs offered better numbers. Given that I am a lower-spin player, that seems unlikely though. Does anyone here have any experience with the AP2 family that could let me know what improvements would be gained, if any, in the new model?

    Dave,

I've had all of the AP2 models since 2009 each year the improvements got better, the key is getting fit and figuring out what you want to accomplish with each generation change?. For me the major performance change i see is the addition of tungsten weighting and launch & flight. Huge improvement. Take your time get fitted well worth it.

I went from the 1st gen AP2's to the 714's last fall and don't regret it one bit.
My 1st gen AP2's were PX 6.0...My 714's are PX 5.5. I have gained some yardage, control and feel over my previous set. You should consider testing both the 714's and the 716's...they are amazing clubs and you won't be disappointed which ever way you go.

    AP2 fore life!
