I know, that's a pretty broad question and I know my answer (along with many of you) will encompass a number of reasons... seemingly endless.

I honestly can say I love everything about the game. The camaraderie, the connection to a community of people who understand the never ending journey to shoot a lower score, the opportunity to find and experience the next great course, and the opportunity to hit the next shot.

I'm sure more reasons will continue to flood to my mind, so I'll say this is just the start of my list.

What about you, what do you love about the game of golf?

The camaraderie, the friendships made, meeting new people, the competition against oneself and the golf course, the journey to become a better golfer. I could continue to go on, but most importantly I am glad that I was given the gift of loving the game of golf from my father and grandfather at an early age.

    Mike,

I, like you, enjoy the camaraderie of the group I golf with.  I also enjoy just being able to play a game that mentally and physically stimulates me and challenges me to play to my ability.  There are few sports and activities that are based solely on how you, yourself, perform.  Also, golf is my "church."  It is the time, especially between shots, when I can reflect and evaluate myself.  There is a reason when people ask me what church I attend I tell them, "I attend the church of the green grass."  I love this game.

Great question, Mike. For many of us, the list is broad and long. I like just about everything about the game. One of the biggest is that the game provides a wonderful opportunity to spend time with others and create lasting friendships centered around a common love for the game. Golf is one of the few sports that really crosses age brackets and one you can play well into your later years in life. Our regular Saturday group consists of four guys, one each in their 40's, 50's 60's and 70's. What other sport can you find such a group?

To keep it fairly short and simple, the fact that there are no two days the same when you play. Between enjoying the time with those you play with, the weather, your play of the game, the course, there are no two days the same.

Golf is all about loyalty, fellowship, and the chance to compete with and teach your children and grandchildren. It is spiritual, it's all about the passion and there is no way to describe the joy it brings or the sorrows.

I will have to say the number one reason is the challenge of you against the course. I think you have to be masochist to play this game because more times than most you are going to be beat up mentally by the course. I am blessed to be able to play if not the best , one of the best courses in my state and it is always a joy to be outside intermingling with nature. Camaraderie is nice but you can get that just about anywhere without having to play golf. That is just icing on the cake for me as I have met the best people playing this great game. As already said this is a game that can be played from the cradle to the grave and with the handicap system you can compete on a level playing field for the most part with anyone. No matter what problems or issues you have, golf brings closure for a few hours on these problems and gives your mind a rest as you focus on getting that little white ball in a hole in the fewest strokes you can. This is truly the greatest game that all can play for their whole lives.

Just celebrated 50 years of cross-county, but the knees are at their limit. Golf affords me the option to exercise outside, and I can play by myself and enjoy the surroundings and challenge myself or I can play in various competitions and compete in a friendly atmosphere. The only time I don't enjoy it is playing with those that get upset forgetting this isn't their day job. ...It's a game.

    Why I love this game:

    1) 99.9% of my love for the game is camaraderie.  You sure met some great people through the game of golf.

    2) The challenge.  You will never repeat a round and it's a game that will never be perfected.  Always a work in progress and I love that part.

    3) Being on the golf course is considered my "Happy place".   Sometimes you need that "alone" time and that's where i want to go.  Not a bar, not a strip club, the golf course.

    4) Golf is all about class, honesty and respect.

    5) And last but not least, it's a game you can play game until you're a 100 years old, god bless us all

I could add more but those are just a few.

I'm just truly thankful and blessed to be able to play this game of golf.

I'd have to say that I love everything about the game.  I just love being on a beautiful golf course, getting some fresh air, some exercise, having a game with friends, and just playing the game.  I'll admit that ball marks on greens drive me nutz sometimes but that's just a pet peeve.  I also love the challenges that golf brings, and it's all up to the golfer to do his own best to meet his own challenges.  Now that I'm getting older I really enjoy seeing the younger players taking up the game, some of these kids are just crazy good at the game and that includes the boys and the girls.

How could you not love a game that looks simple but is amazingly complicated?

I love everything about golf.  You simply cannot master this game and I love the never-ending challenge.

The friendships and business connections fostered on the golf course are endless.  One can truly understand why this game has survived as long as it has and why, we as golfers, need to continue to promote and develop the next generation, so others can continue to enjoy this game we all love.

  15. Family and friend time. Outside in nature. Personal testing. The science of the swing. The art of the shot. The technology of the equipment.

Just to name a few things.....

My favorite part of golf is not only the camera seri but mostly the entire expierience. It all starts with waking up early with the dew covering the ground. You make your way to the course hit a few and then go out on the course. The four hours spent are a beautiful hike combined with a challenging game. Playing with good friend s makes the expierience even better. After finishing you recollect on the exciting four hours just spent. This is why I love golf.

I have to say that I agree with all the reasons that have been listed. I believe that I am so in love with golf for the sheer joy I get from the competition and the endless search for the perfect shot.

This has changed over the years, as of now I just like getting out there on the course for fresh air and the satisfaction of walking to a ball hit on the fairway. That's it, everything else is just gravy for me.

There is nothing more enjoyable than to get up in the morning and head out to our local city course where I meet up with my buddies.  We play in a men's league composed of mainly retired gentlemen from all walks of life and from all over the world.    We have our daily league matches, but we also have a match within our group.  I love the walk and being in touch with mother nature. She provides us with foxes, hawks, eagles, ospreys, egrets, ducks, geese, great blue heron and an array of other low country shore birds.    As our group navigates the course and discuss the happenings of the day or why we missed that last shot, it become apparent that we do enjoy the company of those we play with.  A few jabs along the way regarding an outfit or a missed shot add a little humor to our pretty serious minded group of golfers.  No one like to pay at the end of the day when it time to add up the skins won or lost. Then it's off to the 19th hole to see how we did in the leagues blitz.  While waiting we are joined by other groups as we discussed that putt that would have put us in the money.  Or that put we missed for an eagle.  Golf is about a bunch of overgrown children, playing a game, and having fun at it, and then talking about what could have been.  And I love every minute of it.  If you truly stop and think back when you were a child and played baseball or any sport with you friends, it all relates.  Golf is about having fun with your friends.  While you are on the course, don't forget to take in what nature has to offer.  It is wonderful.  Cheers, Chuck...  *These were actually take at our city course last week.

The camaraderie without a doubt!  My talent is too limited to play this game for a living, so instead of earning $$, I just hope to earn the friendship of people I get to play with.  Of course, I love to play to improve upon previous accomplishments and to beat old man par, especially because he ALWAYS wins!.  But to be on the course, playing with others and witnessing other mortals hit great shots, this game is just fantastic.

I love golf because it has taught me the following lessons/character traits: - Hard work pays off (direct relation between amount of practice and good play) - Honesty/Integrity - Focus - Mental Stability (including added confidence) - Risk/Reward - Willingness to help others in their journey to lower scores - How to forget mistakes of the past and move on to the next hole CH

I will start he fact that it's a game for all ages to enjoy, I can go out with my wife and our two boys ,one is 19 and the other is 10. We can play from different set's of tees and all enjoy it just the same.

The friendships created from being paired with people I'd never met before when showing up as a single as well as the friendships I already had that have grown stronger will the help of the game .

I enjoy the grind of trying to get better at each part of the game, sometimes it's just baby steps and then something clicks and sticks and it's on to another problem or goal.

I love the fact I can play the same course different days with different pin locations , different winds and it will change the way the course should be played as well as the fact their are some many courses to pick from to play and each is different and presents it's own challenges.

These are a few of the things I love about the game.

    Hi Mike,

I like when the morning dew is starting to burn off at the early morning tee times.  The smell of the fresh cut grass and the overall sense of tranquility that the golf course brings.  The sound that the ball makes when it connects with the club when the air is crisp and still.  Really hard to sum it all up but it's usually the simple things that make the game of golf seem like a little slice of heaven.

Mike- There is almost nothing about golf that I don't love. From the competition aspect, spending time with my best friends, seeing new and beautiful courses, challenging myself to get better, getting to play no matter how you are, learning from mistakes, hitting a pure shot, and loads more. It really is the best game in the world!

I love playing the game more than anything else. Hitting drives, approaches, chips, putts. I love going to the course, warming up to finishing my round. I cannot tell you how many times near the last couple of holes I wish I could play another 18. I love all the cool things associated with the game, ball markers, divot tools, pencils from different courses. I am almost like AP in that I keep stuff like that. And of course I like all that camaraderie stuff as well. I could also go on for hours as I like talking about golf as well. Birdie Boy.

    Mike,

I agree with it being hard to decide what I love most.  I will go with the friendships that come from playing this game.  I have met people over the past twenty years that have become extensions of my family.  Playing golf with my inner circle is a break from the daily grind, and usually recharges my batteries.

    Great post!

What I love about the game of golf is everything about the love of and everything about the game itself. It is the unexplainable that grabs a hold of you so tightly, relentlessly, and never ceases to let go! Golf is Love, Golf is Life, Golf is Titleist!

The camaraderie is nice, but since I don't have a ton of friends that play golf - or can play golf when I do - I wouldn't rank it very highly. What I absolutely love about golf though is the isolation it provides from the rest of my busy schedule and the challenge it presents every time I tee it up. I like that there's always room for improvement and that it's much less stressful on the body than many other sports which means I can play for many years to come.
