It's Open Championship week and with that usually comes some interesting shot selections that links-style golf demands. And one thing we might see more of this week is players putting from the fairways and longer distances.

With that in mind, we turned to Titleist Staff Member Ryan Hager for a great drill to help you fine-tune your putting stroke when faced with long-distance putts. The end goal... add some more momentum and smooth out your stroke on those longer putts.

Spoiler Aert: To demonstrate this drill we asked Ryan to try and sink a 100-yard putt. Yes, you read that right - a 100-yard putt.

such a cool tip. I love the idea of a more natural backswing rather than baby it back and fire through. Have something new to work on!
  3. I’ve been working a ton on my putting. Switched from traditional to the claw and I have a ton of confidence with it. Making more putts. I’m not sure if it’s placebo or if it corrected any yipps I had. Overall I’m sticking with using the claw with my Scotty Cameron!

This is an interesting concept and completely different from the methods my local pro uses. It is more in keeping with the system I've used for the past 20 years or so of increased backstroke length for increased length of putts. Worth a try, for sure.
