  1. Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with paint chips on the Driver Crown/Face ? I just bought this GT2 in May, and I dont usually hit driver when I play my club here in Milton. I am a 5 wood type of guy, get it in play but keep the driver in case I need to try to get one out there, or heavy wind so need to lower ball spin. Anyways, I went to the range to work on my drive and after a few swings with Wilson range balls, I noticed a paint chip on the crown as shown in the image. I am very meticulous with my clubs, always keep the head covers on, always in mint condition for resell value, and I am absolutely devastated to see this happen to my new and expensive driver. I have owned dozens of drivers over the years, hit thousands of range balls and I have never had this happen or any paint chip... I really think this is a defect but Titleist is claiming it can't be warranted. Just wondering your thoughts and maybe offer any advise on if there are even repair options if my attempts for a second opinion within Titleist is unsuccessful.

It's a long process, but multiple layers of a matching automotive paint would likely be your best bet. Finish up with a nice gloss. Fortunately the winter season is upon us so it gives you at least 4 months to whittle away at it...
  3. Hey, just wanted to give an update and that after sending the Driver back to Titleist for a re-evaluation after getting denied warranty the first time, they agreed the head was defective and replaced my driver head. I think they realized once another chip started and wasn't from any skyball marks. I don't think the face was set properly with the crown and created this overlap and wasn't able to compression of the ball off the face near the crown. Not sure but I have uploaded a second photo for reference to anyone else who experiences this issue.

Thank you to Titleist for listening and understanding!

    Sincerely,

    Steve

So glad it all worked out for you. Once again - Titleist proves why they are number 1 :)
  5. Glad things worked out. They were probably biased the first time because you are a left handed.

Wow that "paint" is so thick it almost looks like an epoxy coating. It does look like the edge is to far over the face, you would think it should be flush.
Nice that they replaced the head.
