    Hey, Team Titleist.

In the spirit of Jeopardy, I've got an answer for you and I'm looking for you to guess the right question...

    The Answer...

      • • I catch a drive perfectly square. My ball begins to bisect the fairway, but then I watch helplessly as it drifts sideways, out of sight like a disobedient dog.

      • • I strike a solid iron shot that's all over the pin. I give the club a twirl but my ball, inexplicably, comes up 10 yards short of the green.

      • • I nip a delicate greenside chip shot just right only to see my ball bounce, spin-less, and roll off the back of the green.

    The Correct Question is...

Option 1: Name three recurring nightmares that haunt your dreams.

     - Or -

Option 2: Name three surprise golf shots that can occur with an inconsistent golf ball.

(Hum Final Jeopardy jingle in your head)

If you said Option 2, you are correct!

Yes, bad shots like these are likely to occur if you play a golf ball that doesn't meet rigid standards for consistency. If a golf ball's raw materials aren't consistent, if the dimple depths are out of spec, if the core is a just few thousandths of an inch off-center, you could execute a shot perfectly and get a terrible result.

This is why we sweat all the little details - so you don't have to.

Last month we posted a poll question on the subject of golf ball consistency and more than half of the Team Titleist members who responded associated consistency with dependable performance over time. But even that description doesn't paint the whole picture. What we'd really like (and what would help us most as we start thinking of ways that we can improve future generations of Titleist golf balls) is to hear what consistency means to you in your own words.

What does it mean to you to have a consistent golf ball? Is it something you recognize in the rounds you play? How important is it? Does playing a consistent ball give you confidence or is it a given, something you take for granted?

Please share your thoughts and thanks for your insights!

I know that when I pull a new Pro V1x out of a sleeve to put in play that it will perform the same as the previously retired ball. The consistency provided by Titleist golf balls gives me confidence to know that a well struck shot will deliver intended results. From sleeve to sleeve and dozen to dozen, I know that I am going to get consistent performance from Titleist golf balls, and that is why I choose Titleist.

A consistent golf ball for myself means that each time I pull one from the bag it performs the same. It won't cut, won't scuff (too badly) off trees and cart paths, and it will retain the same spin around the greens each and every time. Operator error can make consistency difficult at times as my talent is often lacking but at least the golf ball should never be questioned. Playing the Pro V's I now know what to expect when I do what I am supposed to do.
Making less mistakes will lower scores...huh? Brilliant deduction!!

Consistent to me means when I get out a ball I know the only mistakes it is going to make are ones my swing makes it do. It's a trust thing. I trust that if I make the right swing the ball will respond the correct way.

But I also expect the ball to react negative if I make a negative swing too & that is part of the consistency I expect from my golf balls.

    1. I expect the cover, core and all properties of the ball to stay true to form for more than a few shots or holes even if it hits a tree or cart path for some unknown reason. Lol

    2. If I need a 150 yard shot, I expect throughout the round for the ball to fly that 150 yards with the same ball flight, descent & spin during majority of weather conditions (Wind excluded).

    3. Feel, when making an approach shot I expect the ball to feel the same from round to round and in various weather (except extreme cold) and around the green as well.

Note: I don't play other Titleist balls (anymore) due to confidence factor in the Titleist ball I play. It gives me off the tee the ball flight I want, approach shots it gives me the feel & spin I like & around and on the green it gives me the feel I like.

I know every ball I get out of my bag is the same.

I think I answered the question, if not at least I got these thoughts out of my system.

For me, not having to worry about the ball I play just eliminates one of the variables in the game. I know that every ball I take out of a sleeve will be exactly like the last one. If the shot doesn't end up as I expected, it isn't the ball or my clubs....it is me!

The real answer is: I don't think at all. I "know" it's the best golf ball in the world. #1 ball in golf isn't just a catchy ad phrase. It's the truth. I have confidence that every Titleist golf ball is at the highest level in all catagories. Not just consistency. Confidence of not having to think when I take a new ball out of the box is the reason I play Titleist.

Playing Titleist golf balls gives me confidence, because I know I'm the playing the very best. There is never a question of quality or consistency. Its one less thing to worry about on the course; and I'm bad enough...I don't need a ball making me worse. This goes for Titleist clubs too!

Down to the point that I can count on a Pro-V1 to launch higher and land softer on elevated Par 3 greens over my AVX gamer. Neither ball surprises me. ...Don't change that!

I know, I need to decide on which one to stick with. But at least I know what is going to happen with each one I hit.

  9. Ball is consistent-
Can get several rounds from one ball-
No fall off unless you have dime sized scuff-
Always rolls true. With feedback to putter-

I've been playing Pro V1X for as long as I can remember. I recently tried the TM TP5X but after a few good shots, the ball is scuffed and destroyed. Good shots. Not hitting a tree or thinning the ball but good solid shots. After that, I decided to never waiver from the Pro V1X. Its the best ball I've ever hit and you can really rely on the action you are going to get especially on and around the greens. Plus, for some reason I feel like the ball flies pretty consistently off my driver shots - I don't know if this is just me or the ball but it didn't feel that way when I tried out the TM TP5X. Another thing I just recently found were the Titleist balls with extra lines on them - I love it! I can't wait to see what Titleist has in store for the future!

Titleist balls just gives me the confidence I need to play my best. If i'm not playing well, it's me and not the equipment. I also know Titleist is the ball for me b/c I did test other brands and I can't put the Titleist ball back in play fast enough. Now the only test I'll do is between a newer ProV1, V1x or AVX and that's it. I know I'm getting my monies worth when I purchase Titleist.

Biggest thing for me is feel, there's NOTHING out there that matches the feel I get from a Titleist golf ball. Period.

Nothing to think about when teeing up a Titleist. It's like the reliability of the Fire Department, every time you call they come. Titleist is like money in the bank.

CONFIDENCE. Every Pro V1 is the same and I never worry about it. Bad shots are the Archer not the arrow.

There are enough things to worry about preceding and during a round of golf. How your golf ball is going to perform, shouldn't be one of them.

Quality, consistency and performance go hand in hand. It's inherent in Titleist DNA, and they prove it in the amateur ranks and on the PGA tour, every day of the week, year in and year out!

Many have said essentially the same already, but to me consistency means repeatable performance swing after swing, club after club, whether the ball is a new one or one already in play. Cover does not scuff on good shots. Spin is as expected on approach shots regardless of the club used. Feel off the putter is the same for long or short putts. Flight does not deviate due to ball issues. I've tried others, but none have ever felt the same or been as consistent for me as Titleist.

The yellow Pro-V1x in the image has between three and four complete rounds on it, for example:

Consistency is the key to repetition. I think the better you know how your ball will react to a specific set of conditions, the better chance you have to shoot a lower score.

How consistent you can roll a putt; how much spin on a chip shot; backspin on a wedge from fairway; or rough:
Result is the better you know how the ball will react in a situation, the better you will score.

Titleist is the most consistent for giving me that feel of consistency with every ball out of the box.

I like the fact that by having consistency in the golf ball I can eliminate a variable in my game. Any faults or bad ball flights can be directly traced back to the strike or the player. I never have to worry about whether my golf ball is up to the challenge. Now me pulling off the shots, that can't be a different story!
