I'm currently in the hunt for a new set of irons. I am currently a 11 handicap and play once a week. The irons I currently have are an older set of GB's. I know, not the best irons out there, but they were my first set and really got me started playing golf. I want a set of irons that will challenge me to hit the sweet spot and play golf at a high level. I am 23 and really have a passion for the game. I know I still have a lot of work to do on my game but I don't want the equipment to hold me back. I really like the MB irons but am open to suggestions.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Go for a fitting and hit the MBs and please try the APs as well.......but a fitting will help you make the decision that you are seeking...best advise I can offer you......cheers

For me, the AP2's are the ticket.  Great looking, forgiving yet soft feeling.  MB's are incredible, but beyond my skills (5.8), as I still have some bad swings and need all the forgiveness I can get.  AP1's would also be an excellent choice.

Don't overlook the AP1's. With the right shaft and proper fitting they are awesome. I know a few Titleist teaching pro's that use them as well. Can't go wrong with the Titleist brand. Get fitted!

I have tried both the AP1's & AP2's.  I must abmit both are excellent however I prefer the feel of the AP2's.  When you hit a good shot, you can definately feel the difference.  I will be ordering a set of the AP2's very soon.

  7. Hi Todd,

I bought the AP2s this summer, and let me tell you, they are great irons. I like the overall shape of the irons, the head is very stable, and it's forgiving when you feel like missing the sweet spot once in a while. Similar to you, I was set on buying the MBs because I love the classic look and feel of blades. When I was being fitted, my overall stats were better with the AP2s, so I just bought them. Good luck with your search and please let us know how it works out!
