I can't speak for all manufacturers, but except for auto paint being thicker, it is a similar process. I've seen many custom jobs by guys who do cars or industrial work and they use the same methods. I detailed cars for years and use the same materials to protect my metalwoods. It's amazing how any level of wax will reduce chips, damage from pop-ups, scratches etc. It's a simple 5 minute way to preserve the looks (and trade in value) of those clubs.
