Does anyone know, I think Dale will lol, if the face material for the TSR is the same material from the TSi - ATI 425 titanium alloy that was made from the company in Pittsburgh ? Just interested to know, being from western PA i always thought that was just a really cool link to the steel city. They made a bigger deal about the face material for TSi than any driver before but haven't seen much on the TSR.

TSR driver line is incredible looking!

Eric, I am pretty sure (almost positive) they still have their alliance with Allegheny Technologies Incorporated for their titanium faces. The way the face is designed is different. They are calling it the "speed ring" with variable face thickness to enhance the launch on center hits. Add the removal of the slot that used to be at the bottom and near the face and you have a significantly different performing head. No doubt how well it is performing on tour and how much the general population is enjoying the new clubs.
  3. Hi Dale, I noticed the face of the TSR is smoother than the rough face of the TSi. Do you know if that was intentional? I had a TSi2 driver and I swear it had more of a sandpaper than my TSR3. Perhaps it's the difference between the 2 and 3?

Sorry, when I went to the TSR3, I traded in my TSi2 so I no longer have the two for side-by-side comparison. My TSR3 face actually seems more matte coated in the hitting area than my TSi2 3 wood which has the same shinny face as the rest of the head. I could not tell you how much, if any, Titleist feels the face surface impacts your shots. Probably a good question for you to ask the next time the staff offers up one of their occasional chat sessions. For me, I don't need to know anything except to know when I swing my TSR3, I get the most out of my mediocre swing.

Thanks Dale! Thats great to hear. I saw the info about the speed ring. The face material looks and feels similar, so I was interested to know.

Does anybody know how to get rid of the tee marks left on the face? Tried cleaning and scrubbing but wont come off.

I would try mineral spirits on a rag if dish soap and a toothbrush does not work. Then, switch to natural wood tees.

    Hey,
Use nail polish remover on the face! I know it sounds weird but I’m a Titleist fitter and that’s what we’ve been using for the TSi and now TSR. Hope this helps.

Try a pencil eraser. it works good for the double bogeys on my scorecard.

    Hey Eric,
Yes, it’s the same Titanium alloy used on the TSi heads. It’s a fantastic material and unlike any other used!
