As you prepare for a great season...physically...it's a good idea to prepare...mentally...as well. Having positive images & feelings from past results will help you prepare...mentally...for more positive results this season...and beyond.

As you can see from the attached photo...this is one of my positive memories from a few years ago. I glance at it every now and then to help regain those positive feelings I experienced during US Senior Open qualifying. My mind goes back to that day...I see ALL of the good shots I hit that day...and the feeling of complete satisfaction when I called my wife, sharing the news with her!

My suggestion...find some items that bring back past successes and memories. Carry those thoughts with you on your next round of golf...bet you play....GREAT!

Great advice, Skip! I gave most of my old 67 scorecards away : ), but I'm going to try looking back at journal notes from times when I felt I was swinging well. I think that could have a similar positive affect. Thanks!
  3. This is a really interesting concept.

Many people obsess over the actual golf swing instead of spending more time on the mental aspect of the game. As you say, having positive images and not dwelling on bad shots is very effective.

Many low single figure players could easily get to scratch if they spent more time on the mental game.
  4. Thanks for the reminder Skip! As Johnny Mercer wrote, Accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative, latch on the affirmative, don't mess with Mr. In-Between.

After all 90% of golf is mental and the other 10% is in your head. With respect.

You gotta harness in the good energy, block out the bad. Harness. Energy. Block. Bad. Feel the flow Happy. Feel it. It's circular. It's like a carousel. You pay the quarter, you get on the horse, it goes up and down, and AROUND. It's circular. Circle, with the music, the flow. All good things.
  7. Always think of the positives and definitely block out the negatives
Once you have finished a hole that's it move to the next
  8. This is great advice.
I need create some good memories first though.

    Lol
