  1. Hi guys! Would love to get help of some professionals here please. I am a mid handicapper, started 6 months ago and play almost daily. I am trying to figure up my setup for which fairway i should go with.

I am currently up with :

    TSr2 Driver - 10°

    ??? TSr2 Fairway ????

    TSi2 Hybrids 3H - 18° 4H - 21°

    Irons T300s Set 5 - 23° 6 - 26° 7 - 29° 8 - 33° 9 - 38° PW - 43° GW - 48°

    Wedges Vokey SM9 10S Sand - 54° Lob - 60°

    Putter Scotty Cameron Newport

Any recommendations for fairway to fill the gap? They are still hard for me to work with but i practice a lot. Would a TSr2 4 16.5° Be the idle choice here?

Thanks a lot for your time!

How far is your average drive? How far do you hit your 3 hybrid? Your choice in fairway wood would fit in the middle of those two ranges comfortably. I would recommend talking to a fitter. They would be able to fill that gap for you.

My question back would be what's the gap you're trying to fill? What distance do you encounter that you aren't sure what to use or don't have a club for?

for me, it was the distance of 230-260... so I went with the 3w (TSi2) and it's made a valuable difference for my game on mishit drives, and the par 5's.

I currently play TSi2 15*, which you have some flexibility to play with. I have played it at 15* and 16.5*. I would recommend going to a fitter and see which set-up (shaft and head) would meet your needs. My set up is almost identical to yours. We may differ in age, in that I am 76, but these numbers work well for me. All my shafts in my D/F/H are Fujikura Speeder shafts and I have been fitted for them by Titleist fitters, as well as all my other clubs. * Depending the type of course I will pull the 21* hybrid and add the 58 degree wedge to stay within the 14 club rule and adjust the 18* to a 19*.

    TSi3 10.0*
    TSi2 15.0*
    816H 18*
    * 818H 21*
    (2019) T300 5 (22) 6 (25) 7 (28) 8 (32) 9 (37) PW (42) GW (47)

    SM9 56.10S

Actually my driver is set at 10.75 and the 818H is set at 20*. I play from the senior tees which is our gold tees and we have four set of tees; blue, white, gold and red. Most of our seniors my age play the red tees (super senior 70+). Distance is not our issue, it is the difficulty of the greens.
  6. I like your set up and I would add a TSR 16.5 Fairway metal, use the same shaft as your driver in terms of flex and one step up in weight. Otherwise looks great!

    I have a TS2 15* and I have my TS2 Hybrid weakened from 17* to 19*.
It depends on your gapping and everyone's different. I would think a 16.5* TSR2 is too close to your 18* and you can't weaken the lofts on that as your 4H and 5i seem too close together to me also.

The 16.5 is a 4W that the guys on Tour are using because they're hitting the 15* 3W too far. There's not many holes where they'll carry a 320 yd drive and have 290yds left to the flag so their 3W is too long.

I would ask what the distance gap is between your driver and 3 Hybrid. Then what ever club would help fill the gap would be the best one. My bag is set up some what similar. I run Driver, FW (16'5) 3i-pw, 50, 54 and 58. Depending on the course and conditions I will remove my fw and add a 60 low bounce wedge.

If you look at the distances I am 270 - Driver, 230 - 4 wood, 210 with 3i Utility. Once you have that distance then you can see which you hit better I'd guess it's either a 15 or 16.5.

I agree with TSmith, schedule some time with Fitter. He or she can make some recommendations on how to fill your gap.

Without seeing your swing and flight characteristics/specs over a few rounds in varying conditions, it would be hard to know for sure which would be best for you, at your level. However, I believe a TSi2 16.5 degree fairway is a wonderful choice for the #2 spot in your bag. Actually, most bags in my opinion. There are plenty 16.5s on Tour in the #2 spot.

I presently play a TSi3 driver and TSi3 20* hybrid (in my #3 position). Both, more of a "players" club, with slightly less forgiveness than the respective TSi2 option. However, my TSi2 16.5* fairway, has to be one of the easiest and most satisfying to hit from tee or turf. Frankly, for that spot in my bag, where I need to use it for both type shots, forgiveness outweighs accuracy. (Not that I have accuracy problems with it when I put a good swing on the ball.) Prior to the 16.5, I played a 917 F2 15*. Still a great club, but the added loft on the 16.5 really does help, without affecting distance much at all, if any.

As always, just my 2 cents.

I'd go with a 15 degree 3 wood, to fill in the gap between driver and the 18 degree hybrid.

IMO it all depends on getting your gaps set up. The last thing is having a massive gap between either two wedges (unless you're good enough to work them) or a long iron and a wood/hybrid. For example, my wedges are 4° a part; 50°, 54°, and 58°. I definitely recommend getting a gapping session, if you haven't already to help you figure out where your bigger gaps are to fill. A lot of places offer this for a small fee or free. My bag set up is below:

    Driver 9° - Titleist TSr3 - Mitsubishi Tensei AV Raw Blue 65 X-Stiff

    3 Wood 15° - Titleist TSr2 Mitsubishi Tensei AV Raw Blue 65 X-Stiff

    3 Iron Utility 20° - Titleist T200 - TT AMT Black S300

    4-PW Irons - 2021 Titleist T100 - TT AMT Black S300

    50° GW - Titleist Vokey SM8

    54° SW - Titleist Vokey SM8

    58° LW - Titleist Vokey SM9

  13. Yeh what the other guys said it would probably be best to get a fitter to fill the gap for you since they would have the most proffesional opinion

    My Setup

Tsr2 Driver 10°- Mitsubishi Tensei Av Raw Blue - Stiff- 55

    Tsr2 3 Wood 16.5°- Mitsubishi Tensei Av Raw Blue - Stiff- 65g

    Tsr2 7 Wood 21°- Mitsubishi Tensei Av Raw Blue - Stiff- 65g

    4 Iron - Aw T200 irons- Modus- Stiff- 115g

Like others I’d suggest seeing a fitter to fill the gap. A total shot in the dark guess would be a 16.5* 3w with a similar profile shaft that’s a bit heavier, but it could also the 15* with a shaft that has a different kick point.

    My setup (left handed for hosel reference);

    D - TSR3 9* HZRDUS Black 4G 60.6, C3T1

    3W - TSR3 15* AV Blue Xlink 75S, B2T1

    H - TSI2 18* ATMOS HB TS Blue 85S, C2

    4-PW - T200 Nippon Pro Modus 3 T105S

    Vokey SM9s - 48.10F, 54.10S, 60.12D same Nippons

    Putter - Scotty Newport 2 35”
