My name is George Farris, I am 74 years old, played my first round of golf in 1954. Over the past 67 years I never scored an ace. I conceded that I probably would never have a hole In one due to age and arthritis. I was comfortable with the decision because I love the game of golf.
On June 2, 2021 playing with 8 buddies I made my first hole in one on hole 9 at Ohio Prestwick Country Club. My foursome was Dan Pittman, Don Pittman, and Paul Garcha. The hole was 160yards on a green that sloped right to left. I used a 6 iron that was hit perfectly that hit about 10 feet from the hole and watched it roll in, there was no doubt about it going in. MY FIRST HOLE IN ONE AFTER PLAYING 67 YEARS.
About an hour later at hole 16 I hit a 7 iron to an elevated green 140 yards from the tee. It tracked the flag, hit the green, an in disbelief rolled into the hole. I called the pro shop a second time and the pro came out to watch me pull the ball out.
I called my wife about having holed a shot and n 9 and 16. She reminded me our daughter was born September 16. Darah died in 2012 after fighting cancer for two years. Just that morning I visited the cemetery. People call this Devine intervention.
