On January 23rd 2023, I hit my first hole-in-one at Ayala Greenfield Golf and Leisure Club in Calamba, Laguna, Philippines. Hole #3 is a Par 3 at 122yds, but the pin placement was up front at 115yds and I used my 9 iron. The tee box was elevated about 30ft and the shot was between a row of trees, like goal posts. Our 4some played this Par 3 game where whoever landed their ball “closest to the hole”, the others players would pay his caddie 100 pesos. The 1st to hit was within 6ft, and being next, I asked myself, “Could This be the One?” I followed my caddie’s advice and hit it right of the pin due to the R-L wind gust and green slope. It dropped 12ft right, spun past within inches of the 1st ball and directly in. I nearly crumbled as I watched it drop and heard the wild cheers within my group, the caddies, and the group watching on the 4th tee box ahead of us. Later, I was told every caddie’s phone was ringing of the excitement. For the rest of that day, you couldn’t slap the smile off of my face! And the remaining games a special time.
