February Medal – Clydebank and District Golf Club 10th Hole 134-yard Par 3

The 10th hole was playing slightly under its listed distance, approximately 130 yards, due to a strong prevailing wind. As one of the highest points on the course, the wind was particularly noticeable and continued to strengthen as we reached the tee.

My playing partner teed off first, which allowed me to observe how significantly the wind was affecting the ball in flight. Taking this into account, I opted for an unconventional but controlled approach—using my driver with a low tee and a quarter swing to keep the ball flight down and under the wind.

Due to the layout and elevation of the hole, I was unable to see the ball land or track its final destination. It was only upon reaching the green and checking the hole that I realised the outcome: my Titleist AVX No. 1 was sitting at the bottom of the cup.

A moment I will never forget.
