What is your driver routine on the tee? I step up to the ball in line with my left instep. I make sure I have good balance. I then take two practice swings and pull the trigger!!!

    Great question Bob!

My routine is sort of a two step process.

First, I stand behind the ball, mimic my takeaway(thanks Rickie) once or twice and then take one half speed swing after the last practice takeaway. I try to do this all as relaxed and fluidly as possible to create a good tempo.

After this, I'll stand about 2 or 3 paces behind the ball to envision the shot shape I need. I don't close my eyes or anything like that, just a quick rehearsal of what I want to see. This next part is important. I will step into my setup but with my eyes on the target line I have picked out. Don't ask me how it works, but my eyes tell my body where to line up...usually pretty close so I don't need to adjust much. From there I will make sure i'm balanced(quick reminder to myself to press into the ground with my feet) and grip n rip!

This is a very detailed response so it sounds like a long prep but it really is just about a 15 second process haha.

Hope this helps anyone who is looking for it!

Two practice swings while facing the fairway. Then I'll pick a target and then find a spot on the tee box a couple of feet in front of my ball that is on that line. Step in with my right foot, then align with the left. Sole the club inside the ball, confirm my address, lift the club head and hover it behind the ball, take it back and fire through.
  4. Set the club to my target, set my left foot to the line and ball, raise club to ball height and off we go.
  5. All of these replies indicate people are going thru a reasonably long process before hitting their ball. It might make more sense to take a quick swing, a waggle, and then hit the ball. Considering a foursome, this might save 20 to thirty minutes a round. When I play with people who take a minimum of two practice swings I start to think about who else I can play with. Am I off base?
  6. What I normally do is I stand behind the ball about 2-3 paces. I pick a general target and take no more than 2 practice swings. Then I pick my target, step in, then let it rip.
  7. Don't you think a waggle or two and then two practice swings is a little too much? This will add nearly 30 minutes to a round for a foursome. How about a practice swing, a waggle and then hit the ball. Am I off base?
