Has anyone "like me" ever played so badly that you thought Titleist was going to ask you to send their free "TeamTilelist" bag-tag back? I mean so bad, you needed to buy a few sleeves of balls at the turn just to make sure you had enough to make it through the last 9? Out of character bad....you wonder to yourself " what did I do so wrong in my life to deserve a round like this"? Where your tee shots are so "off" you begin to check for birds and other wildlife in the area just so as not to kill any of them. So bad, you get tired of swinging any club because you've never swung so...many...times...in your life? Where you've lost so many balls you put your good Pro V's away and begin playing the (wont say the name but it rhymes with "Fallaway") balls you pulled out of the pond on a on the 7th? Yeah......me neither.

Wow...David. I feel your pain. Yes I have played pretty close to that bad on more occasions than I care to admit.

I'm fearful of doing it in two weeks in front of a whole bunch of #TeamTitleist members and having Abby say "Please leave all your Titleist equipment at the door on your way out" LOL

But take heart, the next round always brings the hope of a personal best!!

    Hi Robert,
Forgive me, I'm pretty new here. What's in 2 weeks where you would play in front of #TT Members?

Anytime as a teenage handicap golfer I break 80 I am in hog heaven. A month ago I shot a 79 and the next round reverse the numbers. Never pared a hole. They call it golf because all the other 4 letter words were used.

Been there, done that too many times to count. I've been playing better recently, shooting my best score on consecutive occasions. Third time wasn't a charm for me. Went out with my son, I would have been lucky to shoot 70. For 9 holes. I lost 7 balls in 9 holes and I didn't even finish out 3 of them.

After donating that many Pro V1x in one round, I switched to NXT Tours for a while.

Yes! I feel your pain! in July, I went to the range for an hour before my round, drove the ball so poorly that I didn't know what to do with myself! Then went to the range for another hour and hit A LOT of angry drives, big swings, wrong swings and couldn't make myself feel any better. Had a buddy take a video of my bad swing, went home and starting hitting drives on my simulator for another two hours with a bottle of scotch in hand.

At the end, I had so many angry swings that I couldn't walk. Pretty sure I tore my MCL in my trail knee. It's been a rough recovery, had to play with one of those huge knee braces with the hinges on it and I'm still using Kinesio tape on it. My playing has been limited ever since, but getting better. I've had 3 rounds without a brace on and only tape, another round today at noon and the first time of two rounds in a week in a very long time.

I would have been better much sooner, but I had two round intermixed that I tore it even worse.

Can't stop playing though... love this game!

    Whatcha gonna do?

    Cheers!

Yep - Prince Course @ Princeville. I lost too many to count, so I bought a sleeve from the beverage cart guy, just in case . . . .
Afterwards, the bartender said the recommendation is to have one ball for each point in your handicap (14.3, bring a dozen plus 2!); just to finish the round!

About 2 months ago, I was playing really well. Hitting most fairways and if not on the green, I was close enough to putt. was 4 over par going into hole # 17. All of a sudden, I caught a case of the s work (rhymes with pranks). I lost 12 balls in 2 holes and didn't finish. Worst choke with 2 to go ever. Next 2 rounds, couldn't find anything, so decided to get a couple of lessons. Luckily, he was able to help me find my swing again, and I'm getting close to where i want to be. Went from 17 hc to 13 this summer, so I'm pretty pleased overall.

Just keep swinging and get a quick lesson if need be.

The greatest gift that playing not as great as you desire, is that when you play better than you ever thought possible, the taste is oh, so sweet. That's life. That's golf. If there weren't downs, you wouldn't know the true, unbridled joy of being up. Stay the course, so to speak. The only cure to golf, good or bad, is playing more golf. The most mistakes you make, the less afraid you'll be of making them. It's only then that you'll start playing consistently well. Good/Bad/Ugly. It's still better than not playing at all. Good luck!

Afraid to answer for fear of bringing on the curse! My buddy went through it last week when he played miserably. You know how even if you have that bad round you hit one or two shots that you're really proud of and you feel somewhat redeemed? He had zero during the 120 shots or so he took. A very tough course and his first time on it as well, but it was so painful. I think because we all have felt that pain.

(deep breath) Yeah... I've actually done it in some of the most important day as well, like just over the weekend. It came when I least expect it- I was doing great the day before, then someone else got in me where I didn't even know who I was...so embarrassing....wish there'd be redemption.

    Dave,

I remember vividly a 4th of July round of golf here in the Virginia heartland some years ago. It was a very hot (+95 deg), humid, and sunny day like so many other days are here in Fredericksburg during the summer. I wanted to get a round in at a very good but very difficult semi-private golf course here. There were many golfers playing this day and I, as a single, was paired up with a two-some who informed me that they were from out of town (West Virginia) and had never played this course. Well we drove over to the first tee box where we exchanged some pleasantries. They had asked me for help playing the course as I had told them I played it many times. But something struck me funny when they said that they hadn't played much golf and were not that good. I have certainly heard this many before but many times I, being a low single digit handicapper, was able to offer some assistance to help the golfers get around the golf course. Little did I know just how bad these 2 golfers I had been paired with were, nor did I know what was in store for me on this holiday. Well it was time for us to tee it up and I hit first. I hit a straight drive down the middle of narrow par 4 fairway that was bordered on both sides with very thick and tall gorse like scrub grass. The first playing partner wound up hitting 4 golf balls slicing each and were lost into the gorse. He then took out a mid-iron and was able to put a ball in play. His friend duffed 3 balls into the gorse and then he took out a wood and was able to get a ball in play. On the walk back to get our cart they indicated to me that this was only the second time they ever played a round of golf. When I walked behind the golf cart they were driving in I had noticed that these 2 so-called golfers came well prepared to play as they both had brought with them 2 big paper grocery bags filled to the brim with trash range balls that they would use to play with. It turns out that these 2 wound up losing at least 10 balls each on every hole! Needless to say they were not playing for score. As the round and the drudgery proceeded, while we would make many attempts to find some of their lost golf balls, I would instruct 4 some after 4 some to jump ahead of us. Well after completing 12 holes of golf in this manner in 6 hours my patience had just about run out and I had informed my partners that I had a family gathering that I was late for and had to attend. I wound up leaving the course and driving back to the clubhouse unable to finish my round of golf.

So Dave, no matter how bad you think your round of golf was, I do not think for a moment it could come anywhere close to being as bad as these 2 golfers from the hills of West Virginia played this day. Whenever I play golf and I am paired up since this time I make it a habit of looking in golf carts looking to see if my partners have brought with them bags of range balls. Only then will I know I will be in for a very long, and unpleasant round of golf.

    Best Wishes,

Been there , done that, I have been fighting my swing for weeks now. I used to know where my Pro V was headed. Not so much right now. All those "good" swings are in there, just have to find them. Been looking all over the course for them, but no luck yet!

    Just last weekend!
Every good shot I made something bad would happen like I hit a rake going for a tight pin and bounced into a short side bunker. But I'm swing was awful. I had to buy a bag of used Prov1's at the turn. And need them to finish the round. It didn't help that the greens were just aerated so it was hard to even make putts. I think I sot the highest round in 5 years. Plan to not touch a golf club tor t weeks then start over at the range trying to figure it out..

    Reynoldsburg,

Yes. It happened this year. The play was so slow. I couldn't hit anything straight. I was loosing balls left and right. I had no focus and after 13 holes, I left. The harder I tried, the worse I got. It was one bad round and have done better since. I did notice I play a lot better if I have a quality protein meal. When I have a turkey sandwich and play, I play my best. So, buy stock in Sara Lee!

    Play Well,

I feel like every golfer has that kind of round every once in a while. It is frustrating but I use it as motivation to go back out soon after and redeem myself. Gotta stay hungry. When you're no longer hungry, its time to take a break.
