I've been off the board for quite a while now as things have been very hectic these past few months. We built a new house at the PGA Club in Port St. Lucie, FL. We moved in November 25 and sold the house in Sebastian,FL on December 1. Things are settling down now. The bad news ? I need to get my right hip replaced. It's shot, bone on bone and it's pretty painful to play golf. I can go about 9 holes and that about it, so I just have to tough it out until I can get the surgery scheduled and done. The surgeon that I want to use is backed up for several months, but that's okay because I don't want some hack doing this. I had my left hip done 12 years ago and it still works like new. Unfortunatly that surgeon is now retired, so I'll press on until the time comes.

    Hi Frank,

Sorry to hear about the hip. I kind of know how you feel. I had heart by-pass in 2008, a knee replacement in 2011, and am now recovering from a rotator cuff procedure I had done just after Thanksgiving. In each case I had to sit out a fair portion of the golf year. I managed to come back strong after the first two and am hoping to do the same this time although it may be June before I'm able to play without fear of injuring myself again. Good luck with the new hip. Think of this as a tee shot that ended up behind a tree. Sometimes you just have to punch it out into the fairway and go from there. Fairways and greens.

Also sorry to hear about your hip, I had my first knee replaced in Nov, 2012 and the second one in Nov, 2015, out from Golf for about 3 months both times, but the great news is no PAIN !!
All I can say is don't wait to long. I have a great surgeon in Clermont!!

Well, I just got my surgery date. May 8th. Why so long? This surgeon does 10 procedures a week so I just have to hang in there. I had my left hip done in 2004, so I've been down this road before. The "good" part is that the recovery will be during the Florida off season. High heat, heavy rains and a lot of work on the course during the summer down here make for less golf. Thanks to all for your words of encouragement.
