  1. I will be going on a golf trip soon and I am needing a travel bag. I currently use a Players 4 bag and would love some recommendations.

Keith - are you looking for a case to put your bag in for the airlines? If so I would recommend the SKB cases. They make them for all bag sizes and they are hard cases. I have flown all over the country with my clubs in one and have never had to remove the heads. I do wrap a towel around my irons however. I have a Small SKB case and it will hold my Players 4 Carbon bag, a pair of shoes, some rain gear and a couple of towels. It’s a tight fight but nothing moves around and I’m under the weight limit for the airline. I typically fly SWA (points/credit card holder) and they will only insure your clubs if they are in a hard case.

You may want to go up a size so you can pack more gear if you want but keep in mind that you may need a larger rental car since the hard case will take up some room in trunk/cargo area.

Good luck and see you in the fairway!!!

There have been several discussion threads on this topic in the past. The majority like the Club Glove soft case and now Titleist carries both the collegiate version and the full size model. The collegiate version is big enough for a Players 4 bag. Advantage to soft is flexibility and smaller footprint when not being used. Downside is clubs can be damaged and some airlines will not insure clubs that get damaged. The most popular hard case is SKB and they also have multiple sizes. The smaller works well for me using Players 4 and Players 4 Carbon bags. They have a lifetime guarantee and will make free repairs or replacement if the airlines finds a way to break it. You also do not have to worry about bag legs getting bent of shafts being snapped off. The downside is they might be harder to fit into your car or a rental if you have multiple players traveling with lots of luggage. While I do have a Club Glove, I almost always travel with the SKB, especially if flying overseas or flying with multiple aircraft transfers.

I love my soft case with spine attachment. It's easy of fold up and put away after traveling and doesn't take up much space. I also add towels in the bag for layers of protection.

I use a Clubglove with a stiff arm. I also take the heads off my woods. For a golf bag. I use my little Jones Sunday bag. I’m a minimalist and don’t need much, so it fits really well in the collegiate version of the Clubglove. I’ve had this set up for about a decade, and travel frequently. Knock on wood, I haven’t had any issues.
