52,56,58 distance issue

    First of all, hello everyone. It’s my first post on here so go easy on me please :—). I used to play TM ATV wedges, 52 and 58 degree. During lockdown I went on a bit of a spending spree like some of us probably have, but I came across a great deal for SM7 wedges, I ended up purchasing 52 12F, 56 08M and 60 12D. Yes I know I’m silly for not having a fitting but just an impulse buy, I researched loads before purchasing regarding bounce and grinds. I finally got to the range tonight after playing 2 rounds with them, noticed on the course I struggled with distance. But got to the range tonight and literally if I do a full shot with every one they all go the same distance. 90 yards, 95 max. I couldn’t get my head around it. Has anyone else had an issue with this? They come off the club absolutely fantastic, the loft and landing etc are great. Not to mention the feel. Any suggestion will be great. With my ATV I had between 20 to 25 yard difference between the 52 and 58. Thanks guys and girl

    While I didn't get enough separation at 4 degrees, I do get enough at 48/54/60. It's hard to imagine you get the same from a 52 and a 60. Are you applying the same amount of shaft lean to both? If you apply more lean to the 60, it will be delofted at contact and effectively be closer to the 56. If you and a friend can't detect a difference in setup, you may need a tuneup from your favorite pro.

    Yup, agree with Don also. You shouldn't be getting the same distance with your 52° and 60° on full swings. Shaft lean, ball position or something with your swing using wedges. I would check with your Pro or something. You can start by video of you and close-up video of impact. I use 50°, 54° and 58°. I have three different distances on full swings with each. 100, 90, 80 respectively.

    Hopefully your "deal" was through an authorized retailor and not a counterfeit- which may or may not have exact lofts to what is printed on the club. I would get the lofts checked. Assuming they are legit the only thing i can gather is the strike point on the club - if you are catching the 60 a little thin - even a groove or two on a full swing the ball will come out hot - i personally stop taking full swings with any club higher than 52*. If you are taking full swings and making solid contact check your ball speed - you should see about 5mph difference. Go see a clubfitter or an instructor and it should work itself out.

    Michael, If you are hitting "range" balls I wouldn't be to worried as I see the same thing from time to time. Go find a hole late in the evening or if your club has a short game area hit some shots with each club from the same location. My guess is you would see a gap in the yardages.

    Sounds to me as if your "full" shots are not actually full shots. I'm 75 and play SM 7s, (standard loft and lie with stock Vokey wedge shafts) 50 08F, 54 10S, and 58 12D. Waist high shots are 85, 75, and 65, respectively. Full shots, which I do not take often with these wedges, are about 5-10 yards more each.

    I'm with Don O.; if you're hitting a 52 and a 60 the same distance something'd not right.
