I have recently purchased a nice SM 10 Oil Can 58.04T grind and I love it around the greens (tight lies especially) but I'm experiencing difficulties in the bunkers. I feel like the club digs too much in the sand (lack of bounce obviously) and that my shots end up being too short (too much sand taken). I used to have a 58 soft K grind (06 bounce) and it worked fine in the sand (at least at my level... I'm a 5 handicap) Should I change something in my approach (less open face) ? Has anyone else experienced this problem as well ? Is this grind not made for (powdery) bunkers at all ? Thanks for your insight !

Sounds like you need more sole width that the LBK gave you.

Maybe try your next club up (I assume 54*). It'll likely have more bounce than the T grind or get a new SM 11 54.10 S to give you more playability out of a soft bunker. Learning distance and spin control may take some time but could be the new "go-to" bunker club.
Good luck and enjoy the journey!

My next wedge is a 52 degrees. Thanks for your answer. I'll keep working on my swing (maybe less digging) for now as I don't want to buy another club for now.

Correct Brice, the 4 degrees of bounce is very tough to use in fluffy sand. There are a number of pros that can do it but why make it hard on yourself? The low K is a great bunker club but the M might be a good balance for you between better bunker shots but also versatile around the greens for manipulating the face on little touch shots. Ideally, do an outdoor fitting where you can compare shots with different grinds. Best of luck and hope you find the one that works best for you.

Thanks guys for your comments. I went to practise my bunker shots yesterday and was pleased with the results in various sand conditions. I think I was surprised by the fluffy sand last week-end. This sole needs more engagement and speed (and less digging) for sure. I can live with that. It's so nice around the green - much easier than the low K I had. I guess I should have 4 Vokeys in my bag for all these different options... but should get rid of longer clubs ! Such a dilema ! :-D

The leading edge bounce is pretty steep on T grind. The new 60-12K. set to 58* renders low bounce K obsolete. More versatile vs 14K and 06K.

The M grind is my bunker club and it’s great in all kinds of sand. That said the new Wedgeworks A+ grind looks intriguing
  10. Just ordered my new Vokey 11 can’t wait to play

I actually do OK with 60-04T and 64T in both wet a soft sand.

If you hit firmer lies, play the ball back. For soft lies, play off the front foot and sweep.
