Do you change your headcover and grips on your SC Putter?

  1. I just love my SC putters, I’ve always used a blade but I decided to try a Phantom now. With keeping it in my bag I don’t want to advertise the putter so I have a generic one to use. I do the same thing with my driver, woods and hybrids. I knew someone who had a club stolen while playing a round of golf.

I’dime to know what everyone thinks.

I have 5 scotty putters special select newport 2, super select newport, champions choice button back newport 2, studio style newport 2 (slightly thicker top line) and a phantom 5.2

My 5.2 is my least liked putter just can't get into the head now and how it frames up a ball

I have big hands and like a bigger grip and used them all and when they go slick I will change them out I have tried all the super stroke grips (favourite was the off the truck pistol lock 2.0) I like the flatso 2... But I got on to Garsen grips and love those I like the premium feel and overall construction of them and they are less busy in comparison to a super stroke again this is a personal thing I will swap them out mid season as well when they lose the tack or look worn I will replace as i like a clean fresh grip which for me promotes a very light touch.

I find a grip can change a putter immensely I just bought the super select newport and could not get on with the pistolini plus grip way too small and a weird swing weight Put a ultimate in it and bingo touch and feel came right back

As for headcovers I look for the club cameron ones on scotty cameron canada on facebook and buy them there for $100-$125 Life is short and if a headcover is your thing... go for it I have 22-23-24-25 on my blades and will look for the 26 one when it is a reasonable price

  3. All my scottys have SC grips on them, I just prefer the feel. However none of them ever have the original headcover - too many prying eyes at some courses I play, so I stick a different unbranded cover on them. Usually with some wacky design to put people off and make it obvious if someone’s taken it.

I definitely change my grips periodically. That's the connection from my hands to the one club used on every hole (smile).

My first Scotty, someone stole my head cover, so I bought another non-Scotty which was also promptly stolen, followed by another that was lost. I don't have much luck with head covers...

Grips - I've never liked the Scotty grips, so I put Winn grips on. I dread changing it the first time though. The Scotty grips are like trying to cut through a car tire and the grip tape is comes off in tiny pieces since it's stickier than what you can get typically.

Lately I have been liking the feel of the Super Stroke Pistol Tour 2.0, its weighs in at 51g, which swing weights similarly to an Iomic grip which I have gamed for a long time
  7. I'm having a hard time locating a cover for my center shafted Phantom. Plenty of mallet covers out there but very few for center shaft. I like the look of the original SC cover but the Velcro closure is unreliable.

I have a selection of headcovers that I use, depending on the occasion/event. Some SC and various others.
  9. Changed my scotty grip to a super stoke cause that was the only grip ive ever used with my previous putters, and after a year I immediately switched back cause it felt so wrong lol
  10. Yes! Depending on my mood and how I am putting!

    Cheers!!

I will usually try the OTR grip but usually end up with a super stroke or send it to the custom shop if I don’t love it. I also like to have a few covers at my disposal. If my putter is having a particularly disobedient day, I’ll change covers to get rid of the bad mojo. If that doesn’t work there’s always an enthusiastic bench of other Scotty’s ready to jump in the game.

Switching it up always helps, it’s science.
