  1. Keep the phone in the car!!!! No use for it on the golfcourse, use the good old pen and paper and than transfer your scores to your phone or handicap app when you get home and review your round with a cold beverage

Wow....I guess I never realized how "new-school" I am. I have my phone on me through my entire round. I rarely take calls when on the course, but I'll text and take pictures during the round. For me, I've found that I play better if I "distract" myself between shots. If not, I over think and that is when my round can go south. I never allow it to affect my pace or my playing partners. Honestly, if someone is bothered by me standing off to the side or sitting in the cart texting while they swing, they have bigger issues than my phone.

I use to use an app to track my stats, but as time went on, I felt it slowed me down. The majority of my usage was between holes and that is usually when I have the least amount of time to use my phone. (that and my stats were depressing me) So now I'm a paper and pencil kind of guy.

No Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram, etc here. When I first started playing again last year, I slipped into the mode I was in 15 years ago. I didn't have a cell phone then, so now I would just put it on silent and put it in the bag. My problem is that when I would maybe check it at the turn, I had 12 missed calls from my wife along with some texts with expletives about not answering my phone. One night, I was late, and she texted me a picture of the course with my position on it from Apple's Find my Friends! So, I have to check it a little more to keep the nagging down, but it is always in the bag on silent.
