  1. I play better when walking but when hilly I will ride

I try to walk 9 holes when I can. Our course has three 9's, each stretches out to over a 3 mile walk. Factor in the West Coast Florida Heat in my area in Bradenton and it can be a workout. But I generally play much better walking over riding.

I play in a senior league and see guys walking a really dragging around the course, grasping for air and soaking wet. As my pulmonologist you have paid your dues, jump on the cart, don't think about golf, move up to the age apporitate and have fun. I don't have to think about what's going on, drive at a nice easy pace, normally waiting on the walkers, get my numbers and am in position to hit. Again, make life a lot easier on my back and breathing. Have an Artic breeze machine and 32 oz Yeta on the cart for ice water. Helps in the heat. To big to carry on a cart. When younger really loved walking like most on here. But as life takes it's toil, you have to be realistic and smell the roses. I can find a lot of shade on our course and not hold up anyone. Hate to see some of these walkers coming looking like warmed over death. July and August we play under a heat advisory most of the time.
  4. I 100% play better whenever I walk - there's something about the walk that helps me process my next shot and focus up more. Don't get me wrong, I'm very social when I play, but with a cart you have someone else chatting you up as you drive to your ball and/or you have to help them look for theirs (or yours, etc.). I just don't always play with others who want to walk is probably my biggest reason for not walking. Also, the hot/humid summer months here in Illinois make walking less desireable. I'm looking forward to the cooler late summer/fall months when walking comes back onto the radar more.
