Opinion on Disney courses

    Hey TT gang,

    Headed to Disney with the family in September, but have managed to get at least one day to myself to go hit one of the courses!

    Any recco's on which property course you'd choose vs the other?

    Sidenote: I wont have enough time to go off property, out to a course, so really just looking at the 4 on (Oak, Palm, Lake BV, Magnolia)

    I have played all of the Disney courses a few times. If you are staying at Saratoga Springs Resort, Lake BV is right there. It wanders through Old Key West and Saratoga Springs Resorts. Oak is a Par 3 walking short course. It sits on the same site as Palms and Magnolia. Magnolia was just redone and it was a lot of fun to play. I like Palms as well. Each course has its own uniqueness.

    You really can't go wrong with which course you choose. Magnolia is the toughest of them all if you are looking to push yourself.

    You could play Palms and Magnolia the same day if you wanted to. I did that back in January this year. Tee off at 7 on one and then 1130 on the other.

    All 3 of the courses are enjoyable. LBV is fun. Nice range and scenic through the 3 resorts. The Waldorf Astoria is also now part of Disney golf and it’s the toughest track. Enjoy

    Pass on Magnolia as it is still only 14 holes.

    A quick ride to Orange County National to play Panther Lake would be my suggestion.

    Does look juicy, but the convenience of playing on property with transpo, ease might win out. I wasn't aware before though and now REALLY want to keep that one in mind, thanks!

    I too have played all. Played Palm and Magnolia together in 1 day about 2 years ago. Liked Palm a lot better. Magnolia was long, straight and flat; but who knows what the renovation did.

    Hi Jon, and greetings from up here in NEPA! I’ve played Magnolia a few times as well as Osprey and Palm. Without putting too much of a touristy spin on things, Disney runs a really tight ship across all fronts and you won’t be disappointed regardless of where you wind up.
    I typically go wherever I can get a prime tee time (7:30-9:00) so that I can play, then get out to wherever the family may be and enjoy the rest of the day. Unless you have other family accompanying you, deserting the wife with the kids for an entire day puts undue stress on a vacation (especially at Disney World).

    Love the suggestions Eddie, and agree. I did (hopefully thoughtfully, and keenly) sandwich the rest day (everyone get away from each other) on the golf day for me. I agree on if I was leaving the wife to be single mom at Disney lol!

    Sounds like you’ve got all the priorities in order! In that case, suggestions are twofold. First, if you plan on being back within a reasonable timeframe, save Magnolia for when all 18 are open (if they’re not already). Part two, however , would be to make Magnolia the priority on this trip or the next. The other courses, while very nice, are very typical Florida style courses. Magnolia is the one with prestige and acumen, very likely to be in your top 10 course experiences, and, unless you’ve played a decent number of Korn Ferry Tour or PGA TOUR event venues, almost certainly in the top 25.

    I've played Oak, LBV, and Magnolia. They're all nice courses, so you really can't go wrong, but like everything Disney, overpriced for what it really is.

    Jus played Palm in May. We stayed at Yacht Club and was only a 10 minute shuttle. Play early and get back with the family. Disney is more fun together...Happy wife, happy life equals more golf for you!

    Personally, my favorite is LBV, its tighter, has more doglegs and is more of a thinking man's course. What I remember about Palm and Magnolia is that they are long, flat and straight so they are more of a bomb and gouge type of thing.

    Agree with many of the other feedback. Took one of my sons down for his college graduation gift and played all the courses. Disney has did a great job keeping the course of play moving and never waited due to slow play.

    You can't go wrong with any of the courses at Disney. Palm and Magnolia are very nice tracks.

    I have also come to enjoy LBV and especially for their 9 hole morning special. A few years ago the whole family was at DW and I got a hall pass for a couple of rounds but I wanted to get in some more golf. The pro shop recommended the LBV 9 hole early morning special. You get a breakfast sandwich and drink included with your greens fee.
    Best of all you can play before most people are ready to go for the day.

    We really enjoyed both Palms and Magnolia. Played a couple of times. As they say: "Happiest Place on Turf".

    Played The Palm Course a couple of years ago on our “break day” at WDW. Had a blast. Would definitely play either the Palm or Magnolia course again if I had the opportunity. Only thing I would change is that I would take my own clubs next time.

    I was there just a month or two ago and I had a wonderful time. Lake Buena Vista is a fun track. There were only 14 holes open on the Magnolia when I was there but I really love that course.

    I was in Orlando about 5 years ago and the greens looked pretty poor. Was contemplating a round but was put off by the greens. They had the potential to be good a quirky but not sure if they ever managed it as they should.

    Well Jon, which one did you play and did y'all have a good time? Of course anytime on the golf course is a good time. Have played them all over the years, being a FL resident and like all the tracks.

    I've played all three, Magnolia, Palm and Lake Buena Vista Club, years ago. Enjoyed all three. Lots of water on back nine of Magnolia.
